Thomas comes from a divorced family, inspiring him to help other families who are facing a similar difficult experience. Also divorced himself, he understands the difficulties in raising children when two parents are no longer a family. Thomas is also remarried and has experienced the highs and lows of combining two families into one. With this background, Thomas has the experience and skill required to handle both complex and simple matters. He is an aggressive advocate for his clients and ensures they get what they want and deserve. His clients will tell you that Thomas is a fighter and a zealous advocate for them. They will also tell you that he is different from the rest – he involves them in the process and works with them to successfully resolve their issues.
Thomas began his career working for a large general practice firm in McHenry County. During his time there he was able to work in various areas of the law before focusing his practice on the areas of family law, estate planning and real estate transactions. That experience assists his clients in understanding the many challenges they will face in deciding how best to proceed. It also gives him the ability to counsel his clients on the decisions they make and the impact they will have on their future. Thomas works with his clients in matters including divorce, custody, post-decree, paternity, child support, maintenance, Orders of Protection, as well as real estate, estate planning and small business matters.
Thomas is very involved in the community as a volunteer for a number of non-profit organizations. Recently, he was elected to serve on the School Board and is a current Board Member for District 155. He also serves on the McHenry County Bar Association Board of Governors and leads the Commission for Professionalism and the mentoring program for young lawyers. He has spoken to a number of groups during his career on various legal issues including divorce, real estate taxes, collaborative law, and volunteering to name a few. He was one of the founding members of the Young Professionals for the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce and served as its first President.
Thomas has been honored as Member of the Year for the Chamber, Best Under 40 and was given the Distinguished Service Award by the McHenry County Bar Association in recognition of his dedicated service and contribution to the citizens of McHenry County. He has won numerous awards for Client Satisfaction from various legal publications and independent organizations.
